Antimicrobial Efficacy Testing

 

BCS has extensive experience in designing novel protocols for testing experimental devices for the presence of a variety of pathogens. We utilize ASTM, AOAC, and AATCC standards and protocols for evaluating antimicrobial efficacy of novel coatings and disinfectants.

BCS is is NELAC/TNI accredited and operates under ISO 17025 standards for the detection of viral, parasitic and bacterial pathogens in raw, finished and reclaimed water and solids. BCS offers a wide range of services and conducts studies that involve pathogen detection and enumeration, pathogen reduction and control, device testing, disinfection efficacy testing (ASTM E 1053-97, ASTM E2111-00, and AOAC 961.02), disinfection validation studies, antimicrobial testing, sanitizer validation studies, antiviral efficacy, process challenge and microbiological consulting.

BCS conducts disinfectant development and validation studies at the client's request.  We focus our testing on the inactivation of pathogens in environmental liquid and solid samples and inanimate surfaces.  Primarily, we test for the inactivation and survival of enteric (fecally shed) and respiratory microorganisms. These include: Helminth ova (Ascaris), parasites (Cryptosporidium and Giardia), enteroviruses, rotaviruses, adenoviruses, Influenza A H1N1, noroviruses, parvoviruses and many others.

We can customize studies for clients and accommodate testing based on budgetary restriction.

 

Disinfection/Device testing for viral species; Antiviral efficacy testing: Cost dependent on viral species and test selected.
Disinfection/device testing for bacterial species: Antibacterial  efficacy testing: Dependent on bacterial species selected and test. Our laboratory has a large collection of bacterial pathogens and testing protocols. Routine antimicrobial tests include but are not limited to VRE and MRSA inactivation.
Disinfection/device testing for protozoan parasites; Antiparasitic  efficacy testing: Detection of viable Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts.
